Beyond Bullying!
Future WAVE has been a pioneer in the work of Bullying Prevention.  In fact, we coined the now often used term Bullyproof. Our approach goes beyond intervention and asks, "What would a reallly great day at school look and feel like? How do we get there?"  Our approach builds on strengths and engages everyone- students, staff and parents in creating a school climate that is safe and where it is cool to learn and encourage others to learn and do their best.

This program combines traditional folktales chosen to entertain and then spark discussion about issues that mid-school students care deeply about. Topics include making and keeping friends, the qualities of true friendship, identity, peer pressure, arguments, apologies.  We create a safe and caring communication environment where students can voice their own perspectives while listening to others.

The Hero's Journey
Entertaining and thought provoking stories serve as a springboard for inquiry and discussion about the challenges and choices that teenagers face.  Finding mentors, discovering personal power, taking positive risks, overcoming obstacles and making a contribution to the community are among the many themes we explore.
